New Si Belle Luxury Collection

We talked about luxury lingerie label Si Belle on TLP a couple of years ago and it’s about time we featured them again! The NYC-based brand has 100 percent silk satin pieces one more beautiful than the other, and in this collection, designer Sibel Mesta used a unique floral silk screen effect to embellish the styles that rushes vivid spring thoughts into mind.

Silhouettes include wonderfully-feminine floor-length nightgowns, flirty chemises, padded bras, bikini briefs, thongs and more. There aren’t many stores that carry the brand, but a few of the styles are currently available at Journelle and Gigi’s Closet.

Eberjey Launches Affordable Line for Ann Taylor

By the end of January, Eberjey will launch a new and inexpensive line of lingerie exclusively at Ann Taylor stores and anntaylor.com called Bluebird by Eberjey. Sensing a need in the marketplace for quality and affordable intimates, the company decided to create the new line, which will include bralets, camisoles and panties that cost about half the price of traditional Eberjey products.

“We saw a need at the specialty store level for a line of everyday panties that are cute yet reasonably priced,” said co-founder and president of Eberjey, Mariela Rovito, in a press release. “The bluebird girl cares about her underpinnings, but doesn’t want to spend too much. She’s somewhat bored with the options available to her and is looking for panties that will liven up her lingerie drawer.” Ali Mejia, creative director and co-founder of Eberjey added: “While fit is still the number one priority, comfort and cuteness are tied for second.”

The initial launch will be comprised of three groupings: Amaya, which is set in featherweight mesh and lace ($16 to $28); Sienna, made of powernet and meant for everyday wear ($18 to $16); and Isabella, made of delicate galloon lace ($16 to $36).

Patrizia Pepe is a popular Italian-based European fashion label that’s been growing exponentially over the last decade, starting in Southern Europe and quickly opening over 75 signature boutiques. Even though the label is famous for its women’s and men’s fashion lines, the lingerie collection has become more and more mature over the last couple seasons. When I saw Belgian fashion blog Felicity Fashion post about the lingerie earlier today, I decided it was time to introduce TLP readers to Patrizia Pepe as well.

Soft cups, extreme detailing and a look that reminds me a lot of Spanish designer Andres Sarda – and even though Patrizia Pepe is not a dedicated lingerie designer – a very versatile collection that according to my sources at Patrizia Pepe only gets updated once a year…

The brand also has a small loungewear line, which I do find a little less exciting…

For some reason, these pieces are not available in the Patrizia Pepe web-shop – but they are in stock in all the Patrizia Pepe flagship stores, and some of the 1200 other locations that sell the label.

Cheek Lingerie by Lisca – Spring/Summer 2010

Cheek is Lisca’s girly and colorful new label – aimed at the European twenty-somethings that are looking for pretty and comfy lingerie at prices comparable to Europe’s populair high street labels like Etam andHunkemöller. Lisca has a great reputation, and based on the first reactions from customers in Eastern Europe – this is another great new label.

Wearing the right kind of bra can help you shed 10 pounds in 10 seconds, suggests a lingerie expert.In her guide, “The Bra Book: The Fashion Formula to Finding the Perfect Bra,” Jené Luciani, says right fit can help one look thin.

According to her Bra is a powerful little piece of fabric.

Not only does Jene advice the use of perfectly shaped Bra's but also gives tips of flaunting it. Her first idea is, try getting a classy sheer black shirt or white button-down shirt and letting the top of a black lacy bra peek through underneath.

Luciani confesses that she herself had problems finding the proper Bra types, when Victoria’s Secrets Miracle Bras came to her rescue.

She revealed that her left breast size was much smaller than the right. The Miracle Bra has removable pads. This removable pads bra allowed her to take out the padding on the right side but not on the left.

After undergoing two breast surgeries to get the correct size, Luciani was diagnosed with tubular breast syndrome, a condition that causes the breasts to develop in a tube shape.

Even though she believes she was born with it, but Lucaini says wearing the wrong type of bra may have contributed.

Women's panties get sexier!

It looks like big bums are the in thing in Australia at the moment, with flat bottomed women buying up padded underwear to enhance their backsides. Women's panties get even more sexy!

Jenny Tew, who designs and sells the garments from her lingerie shop in Cabramatta, said the padded undies are doing a brisk sale.

“They’re very popular. Everyone who walks past and sees it buys it, especially skinny people and Asian people because most of us have flat bums,” the Daily Telegraph quoted the Kimarie shop owner as saying.

“We don’t sell many to European women because they’ve got big bums already,” she stated. Tew, who came to Australia from Cambodia, made the first pair of padded underpants in 2006 after receiving “so many requests from local customers for bigger bums”.

She said she sells about 1500 pairs of the pants, that add up to 4cm to flat backsides, a year. “On party nights, I will wear them. They make so much difference,” Tew said.

One customer from Liverpool, who asked not to be named, said she bought a pair last year after seeing them in the shop window.

“It was new and I wanted to try them because I wanted to know if they worked,” said the 30-year-old Vietnamese woman. “Yeah, they give me more volume and look good with jeans,” she added.

Butt-enhancing pants may have taken suburbs by storm but a Myer department store spokeswoman said padded panties from a French label had not taken off.

Separates range between $40 and $50, while suits retail between $80 and $100. The line is now available at select Macy’s stores across the U.S. and on the Jessica Simpson Collection Web site.

Bar Refaeli Models New Rampage Collection

Leonardo Dicaprio’s girlfriend has done it again. International supermodel Bar Refaeli is participating in her second Rampage ad campaign, which includes new intimates and swimwear. Famous fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon photographed her at Paris Hilton’s former Los Angeles home.

The ads will officially debut in magazines and on the web in March.

This morning started out just right. An e-mail from Damaris told me the brand’s new spring/summer 2010 collection is now available for purchasing on their Web site. You better hurry if you want to grab some of the beautiful and sexy pieces the new collection offers because it is selling out fast!

Brazilian model Daniela Freitas has been popping up in lingerie ads everywhere. First we showed you her shoot for Etam’s new lingerie collection, and now we bring you photos from lingerie brand Censored’s (a New Yorker brand) spring 2010 collection.

The Censored label generally includes glamorous looks featuring appliqué work and lavish details. Pieces include dainty bras, lacy and sporty panties, gossamer negligees and even swimwear embellished with sequins, beads and rhinestone appliqué.

Provocative Lingerie – Quality Sexy-Wear?

Following the runaway success in its Beauty Night brand (we’ll be showing on TLP very, very soon!), Alterego have decided to take on another manufacturer of sexy lingerie and playwear. Provocative is a French design company, they focus on very sexy lines, with an emphasis on quality of materials, packaging and standard of manufacturing. Alterego is a large wholesaler in the UK, and that basically means we’ll be seeing a lot of this label in the next couple years all over the UK web shops.

Diane Rothwell, Alterego’s MD said “we launched the brand just before Christmas, and it has done really great business just from our website, so we think that once we begin to market it properly we will be able to create a good demand for the fourteen lines in the range”. “The quality of the products is fantastic” Diane says, “retailers will be genuinely amazed at the prices considering the superb quality. We strive to find products that our retailers can make good margins on, and will lead to repeat business, and ‘Provocative’ will fit that bill superbly. No minimum orders, free postage, point of sale materials, and 24 hour dispatch all adds to make this range even more attractive.”

I have yet to see the label in person, and I’ve read a lot of these “quality sexy-wear” promises before. 90% of the time, these kind of labels disappoint. Can anyone out there confirm the quality of Provocative lingerie?

Paris Hilton to Release Lingerie and Swimwear Line

According to Paris Hilton’s website (ParisHilton.com), there will soon be a new swimwear and lingerie collection from the socialite’s line of clothing and accessories. It will include “panties and bras, bikinis and cover-ups that flatter and enhance your assets.” It sounds like there will be some push-up styles, which makes petite Paris the perfect celeb for the job. Way back in 2007, Paris told OK! Magazine about her plans:

“In my lingerie line, I have a bra that I designed for flat-chested girls and it makes your boobs look huge! People think it’s fake boobs. Everyone’s like, ‘Did you…?’ I’m like, ‘No!’ It makes me look like a double-D. I’m flat-chested compared to most girls in Hollywood.”

Although she has apparently been working on the line for several years, it is scheduled to be released this Spring/Summer and will be available in department and specialty stores across Europe and Asia.

Her problem is a common one – all too often, bras get uglier (and more reminiscent of your grandma) when you get into larger sizes of band or cup. The first brand that comes to mind when I’m asked about plus-size bras is Elomi. The brand often has styles similar to smaller bras, but adjusted for the fuller figure. Bras come in band sizes 34-52 and cup sizes C-HH. Some of their everyday bras can veer toward a lot of coverage (which is not necessarily a bad thing), but when they create a sexier style it’s a home run! HIPS & CURVES

This isn’t a brand, but a retail website. It’s an important one to mention though, because Hips & Curves has one of the best and largest selections of sexy plus-size lingerie out there; what’s more, it only focuses on these sizes, so you don’t have to wade through thousands of sets that aren’t anywhere near your size. The only drawbacks are that Hips & Curves doesn’t have sales as frequently as other retailers, and they don’t reveal brand names so unless you recognize a style, you will have a hard time finding it somewhere else. But with a selection like this, it is probably well worth the inconvenience!

Sexy Lingerie gets men’s pulses racing!

Women’s lingerie gets male shoppers’ pulses racing, a new study has revealed.

But, when it comes to women, it’s the sight of sparkly evening dresses or a glamorous pair of shoes that does the trick.

The study, which was conducted by Debenhams in a bid to establish in which department customers get the most enthusiastic, used monitor devices to track the heart rates of 1,000 shoppers, reports The Daily Express.

And the study of customers aged 20 to 40 revealed stark differences between what gets the pulses racing for the two sexes.Lingerie topped the list of goods that boosted men’s heart rates, followed by high-tech TVs and sound systems.

Debenhams spokesman Ed Watson said: “It seems men enjoy buying something special for their loved ones. Said Watson: “Women appear to embark upon an emotional roller-coaster when they step into a shop, with heart rate peaks throughout the experience. The shopping climax comes late for men – it’s all about closing the deal at the till.”

Bras that pump up or down with body temperature and smooth out ageing cleavages are among hot new undies to be unveiled at this month's Paris lingerie show, organisers said Thursday.

A Dutch-designed anti-wrinkle bra that can iron out crinkly cleavages as a woman sleeps, and a smart Slovenian brassiere whose foam cups expand with body heat when the wearer works out or flirts, are amid innovations at the January 23-25 Paris trade fair.

"High-tech's playing a growing role in underwear," said the fair's fashion manager Sophie Morin. "Take ultra-sounds for example, now used as well as laser technology to cut and construct garments without seaming or stitching."

Also touted is a range of French lingerie called Milkshake in a fabric made of milk proteins that contains 10 amino acids to hydrate the skin. "The knit is as soft as satin," said Morin.

The cupless anti-wrinkle bra designed by Decollete is supposed to be thrown on at bedtime keeping breasts apart to prevent the formation of feared crinkles that appear in the night.

"I dread to think of my husband's likely reaction if I was to come to bed wearing it," said one blogger on www.truthinaging.com , a site that has already consigned the bra to its "department of daft."

The smart bra from Slovenia's Lisca boasts cups made of memory foam that ebbs and flows with body-heat -- a NASA patented technology from the 1960s.

Some 20,000 lingerie types from more than 100 nations are due to attend the end-month Paris fair, bringing together more than 500 brands, including Brazil's LZ, flying in with an ultra-light bra that weighs in at 67 grammes.

A wide range of styles of brassieres now exists, to be worn in a variety of situations, and with a variety of outergarments. For instance strapless, backless and multiway bra styles specialise in being invisible underneath less than full coverage garments whereas push up and plunge focus on shaping the bust and cleavage. The degree of shaping and coverage of the breasts varies between styles, as do functionality and fashion, fabric, and colour. Styles range from the purely utilitarian to the sensual. Others include various accessory structures such as padding and underwiring. Many bras will fall into more than one category, such as a maternity bra designed for facilitating access to the nipple, but that is also designed to provide support to heavier lactating breasts. Definitions are not always very accurate or exclusive (e.g. shelf bra). Sports bras have more recently been developed with the primary purpose of restricting breast movement to aid comfort.

Generally, bras are categorized as follows:

Demi Cup Bras - this is a more revealing half-cup type of bra.
Push Up Bras - they push breasts up and inward.
Full Coverage Bras - this type of bras covers most of the breast
Victoria’s Secret full coverage bra
Padded Bras have padding inside the cups in order to visually enlarge breast. Some push-up bras are padded.
Convertible / Strapless Bras - Bras that have detachable straps. They can be worn as strapless or conventional bras, as well as straps can be criss-crossed in back (halter style). Strapless bras are usually worn with a strapless dress.
Racerback bras
Adhesive bras / Silicon bras - these bras do not use back or shoulder straps and thus are almost invisible under clothing. These also claim to feel and look natural, and are great for wearing under sheer dresses.
Maternity Bras - During pregnancy breasts become increasingly heavy, more sensitive and considerably larger. Maternity bras are designed to provide breast support during different stages of pregnancy.
Nursing Bras - These bras are designed for nursing mothers. Nursing bras can be opened to feed children plus they offer extra support for breasts as they are quite enlarged during last months of pregnancy and during nursing period.
Mastectomy Bras - these bras have special pockets which allow to hold breast prosthesis.
Sports Bras - Sports bras are designed for maximum support and comfort during playing sports and exercising.
Full Figure Bras / Plus size bras - are designer for women with larger breasts. Full figure women would be more comfortable in this type of bra then in smaller sizes bras.
Bridal Bras - These bras are designed specifically for use with bridal dresses and vary in styles, as do the dresses. These bras are usually fitted so that on the wedding day they provide perfect comfort and confidence.
Teen Bras - designed for teenage girls as their first bras - that provide maximum comfort and style, and are fun to wear.
Wireless Bras - Light support or wireless bras usually have no underwire and are sometimes the preferred choice for those with smaller breasts. They are less constricting and more comfortable than full support bras. As they are wireless they offer less shaping and more freedom than other bras. You can find the padded and unpadded variety; what you choose is a matter of personal preference.
Underwire Bras - Full support or underwire bras usually have an underwire or plastic boning holding them up. It doesn’t matter what breast size you are, however it is a must for those with larger cup sizes. They also are available in padded or unpadded varieties.

Alegro – New Large Cup Brand!

I was sifting through the HerRoom sale today (by the way, there are some great deals to be had right now – discounts up to 60% off!) when I noticed a brand I hadn’t heard of before: Alegro. The bras I saw were pretty and a bit more stylish than a lot of large-cup offerings, so I dug around a little more. I learned that Alegro is a new upscale brand extension of Ruby Pink, designed for a slightly more mature and sophisticated customer. Bra sizes range from 30 to 42 bands and D to H cups. Panties come in sizes S-XXXL.

Alego focuses on flirty fashion basics that aim to be glamorous as well as comfortable. So how does lingerie this pretty stay comfortable? Alegro says they use flat lying elastic straps (double spaghetti as well as full comfort), two and three-hook back closures, powernet bands, and unique underwire casings. But despite all that, it’s pretty clear that a lot of Alegro lingerie is designed for serious seduction!

The Alegro Lingerie Facebook page says, “Each style has been uniquely designed to offer support and style while all remaining truly glamorous. The collections are designed using our new concept of mixing East meets West design.” It sounds like there is a fast turnaround too – there are new designs every month!

Panties cost $13-$45 and bras are $42-$75. I haven’t found the brand in any boutiques or on any websites outside of HerRoom, but the brand is slated to become more widespread in Spring 2010. My favorite styles (Midnight Orchid and Flora Jewel) aren’t available in my size, so I haven’t had a chance to try out the brand yet. Have any of you tried Alegro? Did you like it? Besame is a Columbian lingerie label that has been growing in popularity all over South America. We’ve never shown any Besame on TLP before, mainly because it’s so tough to get anywhere in the US and Europe. Recently, however, I discovered that TLP favorite Yandy Lingerie is stocking Besame (use coupon code “Apple” for 10% off!) – which is enough of a reason to give you guys a quick view of their upcoming collection for 2010.

Luca Fashion, a label that’s been getting a strong fan-base in South America and Europe for quite a few years, is finally moving into the US market. Our friends over at Bella Bella Boutique will be stocking the brand for the first time, and announce it on their site as: “Designed in Miami and Made in Colombia, Luca Lingerie is a fun, young, and vibrant lingerie brand with a European flair and emphasis on non-wired soft cup bras.”

Romanian born designer, Claudia Luca, believes in creating supportive, comfortable and stylish bras with no underwiring. I have yet to try one of these out, but the photos look very basic, girly and wearable… Obviously something that can work in the US too.

I recently bought some new pieces by Kiss Me Deadly, and remembered why I love this brand! I wanted to see more, and when I went to the Kiss Me Deadly website I was happy to find pictures of the brand new range. The new style is Diamond Van Doren, the photos for which are based on The Snow Queen, a fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson.

The classic Van Doren bra already has a home as one of the Kiss Me Deadly ranges, but the diamond mesh fabric is new for August 2009. The new fabric, along with the ivory contrast trim, offers the same shape and style with a bit of a girlish, sophisticated twist. There is also a new matching suspender belt (boned with a non-stretch center panel for shaping) and a full brief with matching diamon pattern rear. The suspender belt, brief, and thong come in sizes S-XL. The bra is available in sizes 32-36 B-DD and 38C-DD.
